Geraldine Ptacek, age 86, of Litchfield died on Monday, October12, 2009 at the Emmanuel Home in Litchfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 16, 2009 at the Church of St. Philip in Litchfield with Father Joseph Steinbeisser officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church with a Daughters of Isabella Rosary starting at 9:30 AM. Interment will be in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Emma Geraldine Ptacek, the daughter of George and Agatha (Rathbun) Gilman, was born in Fergus Falls, MN on July 29, 1923. When Geraldine was a young girl her mother died suddenly and she came to Corvuso to live with her grandmother and aunt. After her schooling she worked at the Litchfield Produce Co. and also cared for her ailing aunt. On February 14, 1961, she was united in marriage to Edward Ptacek at St. Columban Catholic Church near Greenleaf, MN. They lived on Edward’s farm between Corvuso and Cosmos until he retired from farming. They moved to Geraldine’s home near Corvuso. Edward died in 1984 and two years later she moved into Litchfield. She was a member of the Church of St. Philip and was involved in the Daughters of Isabella and the quilting circle. Geraldine enjoyed sewing, crocheting and quilting. Her passion was making rugs on her loom
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by relatives and special friends.
