Gerald D. Warren

Gerald 'Jerry' D. Warren, age 76, of Litchfield, MN, died on Friday, July 1, 2011 at Hilltop Care Center in Watkins, MN. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at St. Matthew's United Church of Christ in Forest City with Pastor Jeanne Bringgold-Pro officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be held at the Forest City Cemetery, Forest City, MN, following the service. Gerald Dean Warren, the son of S. Ernest and Ella (Wagner) Warren, was born on October 22, 1934 in Swede Grove Township, Meeker County, MN. He attended District 2 country school in Forest City where he grew up and lived his entire life. Jerry was baptized at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Litchfield, MN and was confirmed at St. Matthew's United Church of Christ in Forest City. He was a member of St. Matthew's United Church of Christ where he was also the custodian for over 40 years. Despite his vision and hearing disabilities, Jerry had numerous talents which he learned from his mother which included knitting, quilting, crocheting and embroidering. He would go looking for choke cherries and grape vines to make jelly and he enjoyed cooking, gardening, and canning with his mother. He was an avid cook who made delicious lemon pies and rolled sugar cookies that were a favorite with the kids. He also enjoyed drinking coffee, reading books, doing puzzles, playing a card game of 500, watching birds and making sure that the bird baths were always full. Jerry babysat for his nieces and nephews when they were young and was a care giver for his parents later in their lives. He was always a favorite with the great nieces and nephews with his gentle happy disposition and bright smile. He will be remembered as a kind hearted, generous, caring, independent and thankful person. He is survived by his brother, Richard (and Lois) Warren of Forest City, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, S.
