Gerald R. Rueckert, age 90 of Grove City, MN died on Monday February 27, 2023 at the Hutchinson Hospital. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday March 7, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran church in Grove City, MN. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be held at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Grove City, MN.
Gerald Raymond Rueckert, the son of Trout (Frank) and Elva (Jensen) Rueckert was born on July 17, 1932 in Swede Grove Township, MN He attended country school and graduated from Grove City High School in 1949. Gerald was united in marriage to Ella Hillstrom on December 22, 1951. Together they farmed near Regal for 10 years. After a back injury that made farming impossible Gerald continued his education and graduated from St Cloud State College in 1968 and became a teacher in Litchfield, where he taught for 28 years. During this time he was also a coach and referee. In 1977 Gerald and Ella moved to Grove City where they ran their family owned hardware store while he continued teaching until his retirement in 1996. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Grove City. Gerald built 2 of their homes and enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing at his lake home near Brainerd, playing cards and trips to the casino. In September 2022, when Gerald needed more help he moved to Harmony River in Hutchinson.
He is survived by his children Dean (and Brenda) Rueckert of Grove City, Craig Rueckert of Moorhead, Cindy (and John) Gregor of Buffalo Lake; grandchildren Kerri (and Mike) Hendrickson, Jesse (and Katie) Rueckert, Daniel (and Jen) Rueckert, step-grandchild Kelly (and Eric) Gasperlin; great grandchildren Christian (and Keyaria) Hendrickson, Allie Hendrickson, Saraya Rueckert, Lincoln Rueckert, Vera Rueckert, Sterling Rueckert, Ellie Louise Rueckert, Asher Rueckert and Oscar Rueckert; step-great grandchildren Brandon (and Nicole) Scheeler, Jennifer (and Jake) Marcus and Aaron Scheeler and great-great grandchild Kinsley Hendrickson; brother-in-law Allen (and Janet) Hillstrom and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ella, parents Trout (Frank) and Elva; brothers Glen, Rolland, Wesley, Ralph and Earl.
