Gerald Freeman Lewerenz

Gerald F. Lewerenz, age 82, of Litchfield died on Friday, December 9, 2011, at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 17th at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Spring interment will be in the Lake Ripley Cemetery in Litchfield. Gerald F. ('Jerry') Lewerenz, was born in Litchfield, MN on June 24, 1929, to Robert and Alice (Kosek) Lewerenz. He attended school in Litchfield and later in Minneapolis, when his father was employed by Twin City Ordinance (FMC, Northern Pump), during World War II. On July 11, 1956, Jerry married Audrey Flemming at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran parsonage in Litchfield. He was employed by Jenni-O Foods in Litchfield, for 25 years. Jerry enjoyed country living. The village of Greenleaf was his home for most of his life. He always enjoyed being outdoors and knew everything about World War II history. He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl (David) Brown, Eagan, MN; son-in-law, Charles Flynn, Madison Lake, MN; three grandsons, Tim (Marya), Chris, & Ryan Flynn, two great granddaughters, Jazzlynn and Rihanna Flynn, Mankato, MN; sister Muriel Thomas, Apache Junction, AZ; nieces and nephews in Arizona and Litchfield, MN. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Alice & Robert; his wife, Audrey; & his daughter, Kathy Flynn; and niece June Crew.
