George H. Ford, age 93, of Litchfield, MN, died on Tuesday, May 15, 2012, in Litchfield, MN at the Ecumen Emmanuel Home, Litchfield, MN. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at the Church of the Nazarene. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Friday, May 18, 2012, at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield and will continue one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be in the Lake Ripley Cemetery, Litchfield, MN. Military Honors will be provided by the Litchfield Military Honor Guard. George Henry Ford, the son of George and Ida (Laimer) Ford, was born on December 18, 1918, in St. Paul, MN. He moved to Litchfield, with his family at age 9, and graduated from Litchfield High School in 1938. He worked as a printer for Brown Printing in Litchfield until enlisting in the Army. He served during World War II, from 1942 to 1945, in the Rome-Arno Campaign; Southern France, Rhineland, and the Central European-African-Middle Eastern Theater, where he received a Good Conduct Medal and 4 Bronze Stars. Returning to Minnesota, George graduated from the Dunwoody Institute in 1946 and worked for the Litchfield Independent Review. He was united in marriage to AnnaBelle Anderson on June 23, 1951 in Litchfield. He started working for Reed's Printing in Litchfield, where he worked into his 70's, until his retirement. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, the Litchfield V.F.W. and the Litchfield American Legion. George enjoyed traveling throughout his life; from his time in the military; to the classic road trips he took with his family; and the many trips he went on with AnnaBelle. He also enjoyed ice skating in his younger days, photography, fishing, gardening, and watching hockey and the MN Twins. George is survived by his wife AnnaBelle of Litchfield, MN; daughters, Julie (and Jon) Bautista of Prior Lake, MN, Pamela (and Ron) Fraumeni of New Market, Maryland; Patrice (and Terry) Davis of Hutchinson, MN and Laurie (and Jeff) Meyer of Litchfield, MN; and 5 grandsons; Jonathan (and Haley) Bautista, Matthew Meyer, Andrew Meyer, Justin Fraumeni and Michael Fraumeni. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald and Robert; and sister Margaret.Previous Events
