George Dunn

George L. Dunn, age 82, of Litchfield, died on August 30, 2010 at Emmanuel Home in Litchfield. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Augustana Memorial Chapel with Pastor Roger Klinghagen officiating. Visitation will be held from 8:00 AM until 10:00 Am at the Augustana Memorial Chapel. Military honors will be provided by the Litchfield Military Honor Guard. George Leroy Dunn was born on August 22, 1928 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Thomas and Dora (Beyersdorf) Dunn. He grew up and received his education in the Twin Cities area. After school George enlisted in the United States Navy just after World War II. He returned from the service and worked for Harris Brothers Plumbing and Heating while living in the Twin Cities area. He was united in marriage to Marion Clifford on February 17, 1945 in Norwood, Iowa. They moved to Darwin and George partnered in business with his brother-in-law in running a small engine repair shop. Eventually George bought his partner out and continued to run the shop until he retired in the mid 90's. They moved to Litchfield. Mary died in 2000 and George soon after moved into Gloria Dei where he also did custodial work. George enjoyed collecting agates and turning them into jewelry. He also enjoyed playing cribbage. George is survived by his children, Susan Schuster of Hastings, MN and Craig (and Vicky) Dunn of Litchfield, 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, brother Tom Dunn, sisters Jacki Michaelson and Gladys (and Mike) Stibbler, and special friend Adeline Burdick. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Mary.
