Genevieve M. Rick, age 71, of Forest City died on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at the St. Cloud Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, October 9, 2017 at the Church of St. Philip in Litchfield. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Sunday, October 8th at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home with a parish prayer service at 6:00 PM. A second visitation time will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in the St. Gertrude’s Catholic Cemetery in Forest City.
Genevieve Marie Rick, the daughter of John and Betty (Jensen) Reierson, was born on March 20, 1946 in Blackduck Minnesota. She graduated from Kelliher High School. Following graduation she moved to Litchfield and worked at Fingerhut. After a while Genevieve began working as a seamstress for Chamolle, Animal Fair and Butwin. She then worked for the Litchfield schools as a cook at Ripley Elementary before retiring in 2013. She was a member of St. Gertrude’s Catholic Church. Genevieve enjoyed sewing, gardening, scrapbooking, Canning and taking photos, lots of photos. Going to the casino was a favorite pastime of hers, probably because she won so often. She also enjoyed going on drives in the ranger or truck to look for deer, serving as deer camp cook, bird watching and spending time with her dog, Peanut. Genevieve loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Art of Forest City, children Larry (and Karla) Rick of Forest City, Bonnie (and Kevin) Kerstein of Kingston, and Virgil (and Sara) Rick of Litchfield; grandchildren Alex Berglund, Hannah (and Danny) Cox, Olivia Rick and Owen Rick. She is also survived by her sisters Jackie (and Myron) Albrecht of Mizpah, MN, JoAnn Killmer of Northhome, MN, Beverly Gross of Bemidji, Elizabeth Thielen of Eden Valley; her brother Kenneth (and Carol) Reierson of Kelliher, MN and many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Betty; sister Virginia Kosbau and brothers James Reierson, and David Reierson
