G. Arthur Birong

George Arthur Birong, age 90 of Grove City, MN, died on Wednesday February 2, 2022 at the Meeker Manor in Litchfield, MN. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Church of Our Lady in Manannah. Interment will be at Church of Our Lady Cemetery in Manannah. G. Arthur Birong, the son of George and Frances (Denham) Birong was born on December 30, 1931 in Minneapolis, MN. Art received his education at Wayzata Elementary and Dunwood High School. He served in the United States Navy in Korea from 1951 - 1955. Art was united in marriage to Barbara McKenny on April 4, 1958. He was a member of the Church of Our Lady. Art worked for Minneapolis-Moline on the corn picker assembly from 1956 - 1957; for American Tool and Die Shop as a machinist from 1958 - 1973 and farmed from 1974 to 2009. Art was a hard worker who enjoyed gardening, growing crops and loved going on camping trips. Art is survived by his son Dave (Karen) Birong of Oakdale, MN; daughter Sue Hanowski (and fiancé Chris Kummrow) of Elk River, MN; three grandchildren Devin (Rachel), Zach and Stephanie Hanowski; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara; parents George and Frances; and his siblings.
