Fred H. Borchert, age 87 of Litchfield, MN passed away on Sunday June 9, 2019 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday June 14, 2019 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Grove City. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at church.
Fred Henry Borchert, the son of Fred and Esther (Gish) Borchert was born on March 28, 1932 in Federal Dam, MN. He received his education in Federal Dam, where he lived until he was 19 years old. In his younger years he lived in Beloit Wisconsin, where he worked at a foundry. After marriage to Patricia in 1958, they moved to the Chicago area where they lived briefly before settling in the Grove City area in 1960. He took over the family farm in 1965 where he lived until 2006. He also worked at Custom Products for 35 years and after retiring he continued to help local farmers with field work. He was also proud of his gardening which always produced abundantly. Fred was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, playing cards and dice, and had a fondness for antique tractors and farm equipment. He especially enjoyed spending time visiting with his friends and family.
He is survived by his children Kathy (Kurt) Zdroik of St. Cloud, MN, Mark (Lissa) Borchert of Grove City, MN and Susan Borchert of St. Cloud, MN; grandchildren Miranda, Erica and Carson Borchert; brother Wesley Borchert of Pine River, MN; and sister Margie (Chuck) Conway of Missoula, MT.
He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Esther; brother Floyd; sisters Florence Riebe and Frances Johnson; and former wife Patricia.
