Frank Sabacky, Jr, age 89, of Litchfield, died on Monday, April 27, 2009 at Meeker Memorial Hospital. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 1, 2009 at 10:30 AM at the First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Gordon Pennertz officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church and will continue one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be in the Lake Ripley Cemetery.
Frank, the son of Frank, Sr and Mary (Pallas) Sabacky, was born on December 26, 1919 in Thurston, Nebraska. He grew up and farmed with his father near Emerson, NE in Thurston County before taking over the family farm. On September 21, 1952, Frank was united in marriage to Elaine Richardson in the Congregational Church of Comfrey, MN. In 1955 they moved to Litchfield Township southwest of Litchfield and continued farming for 30 years. In 1986 they moved into Litchfield where they enjoyed volunteering at Anderson Gardens after retirement. While farming, Frank was one of the first to implement minimum tillage. Frank was a member of Meeker County Soil and Water Conservation, Litchfield Area Male Chorus and an active member of the First Presbyterian Church holding many church positions. His love of the earth was obvious through his enjoyment of gardening and pride in his lawn. He also enjoyed visiting with friends and family and was very proud of his family.
Frank is survived by his children; Dean (and Sharon) Sabacky of Hutchinson, MN, Diane (and Randy) Wischmann of Dassel, MN and Julie (and Robin) Dolezal of Hutchinson, MN, grandchildren; Jason Sabacky, Heidi (and Justin) Wagner, Ryan Sabacky, Jordan Wischmann, Talia (and Ben) Fontana, Tyler Dolezal, Matthew Dolezal, step-grandchildren; Jennifer (and Adam) Reiter and Scott Kittridge, great grandchildren; Elizabeth Fontana, Nolan Reiter and Emmett Reiter, sister; Lu Sabacky of Emerson, NE and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Elaine in 2002; brothers; Theodore, Milton, Jerome, Joseph, Emil and his sister; Mary.
