Frances M. McGuire, age 90 of Litchfield died on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Ecumen of Litchfield. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the Cornerstone Church at 205 South CSAH 34 in Litchfield. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in the Ripley Cemetery.
Frances Marie McGuire, the daughter of Fred and Nina (Addleman) Fredericksen, was born on December 29, 1922, in Lake Crystal, Minnesota. Fran's father was born in Denmark and came to the United States when he was young and settled on a farm near Lake Crystal. She had a great home life growing up on that farm. Fran's mom was born in Houston, MN and together with Fred raised five children. Fran learned the value of family and when she had her own children she devoted her time to raising them. She graduated from Lake Crystal High School in 1941. On February 17, 1941, she was united in marriage to George McGuire in Estherville, Iowa. In 1943 they moved to Lafayette and lived there for about three years. After living in Springfield for a short time they moved to Litchfield in March of 1946 and have lived there till the present. Fran sold Avon products to her many customers. She enjoyed crocheting and made many afghans. She also made her own greeting cards and was faithful in sending birthday cards to all of her immediate family (some 66) over the years. She was active at Cornerstone Church and was involved in many parts over the years. She was also a member of the Gideons International and was active in the local camp until her health failed.
She is survived by her husband George of Litchfield, children Larry (and Judy) McGuire of Litchfield, Marilyn (and Doug) Kronbeck of Red Wing, Kathleen (and Ken) Johnson of Danube, Fred (and Becky) McGuire of Saint Cloud, Marsha (and Chris) Ball of Anchorage, Alaska, 15 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Nada Wiggins of Owatonna, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Earle Fredericksen and sisters, Wylene Fredericksen and Elsie Williams. Memorials are preferred to Gideons and Cornerstone Church. Previous Events
