Floretta Mary Laabs

Floretta M. Laabs, age 96, of Grove City died on Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at her home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, June 22, 2012, at the Church of Our Lady in Manannah with Father Monsignor Garvey celebrating. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 PM on Thursday, June 21, 2012, with a prayer service at 6:00 PM at the Church. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Litchfield. Floretta ""Flo"" Mary Laabs, the daughter of Andrew and Minnie (Krebsbach) Forcier, was born on January 16, 1916, in Stewart, MN. She attended country school. On June 14, 1944, she was united in marriage to Harry August Laabs in Stewart. They moved to rural Cosmos where they farmed until 1952. They moved near Grove City and continued farming and Flo lived there until Tuesday. She was a life member of the VFW and Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling and bowled with the VFW Mixed Doubles for forty plus years. She also enjoyed fishing at the cabin, gardening vegetables and flowers, and raising and selling chickens. She was a member of the Church of Our Lady in Manannah. She is survived by her children, Virgil (and Joyce) Laabs of Kandiyohi, Darlene Anderson of Paynesville, Victor (and Rita) Laabs of Backus, David (and Barb) Laabs of Litchfield, Phyllis (and John) Rueckert of Sioux Falls, SD, 17 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, George (and Evie) Forcier of Winsted, sister, Laura Young of Litchfield, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harry, 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
