Felix Mendoza

Felix O. Mendoza, age 64, of Litchfield, died peacefully at his home on Friday, July 23, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, July 26, 2010 at the Church of St. Philip with Father Joseph Steinbeisser officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 25, 2010 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date. Military honors provided by the Litchfield Military Honor Guard. Felix Ortiz Mendoza, the son of Gregory Mendoza and Trinidad (and Jessie) Palomo was born on September 15, 1945 in Bakersfield, CA. He grew up and received his education in Garden Grove, CA graduating from high school in 1964. Felix served in the U.S. Army Airborne during Vietnam where he received the Purple Heart. After his service he returned to Garden Grove, CA and worked in dry walling, plastering and stuccoing. He moved to Redwood City in 1990. In 1995, he moved to Litchfield. On September 9, 1999 he married Mary Roeske in Las Vegas. Felix enjoyed music and played in the bands, Avatar and TAZZ. He loved life and being with friends and family. He is survived by his wife Mary of Litchfield, children; Jason Benefel of Oregon, Sean Miller of New Mexico, Pricilla Wakefield of Washington, step-sons; Brian (and Karen) Carlson of Litchfield, Bruce (and Teresa) Carlson of Atwater and Bob (and Shannon) Carlson of Buffalo, grandchildren; Isaac, Lillyanna, Josh, Brianna, Jessa, Zachary, Courtney, Jordon, Cody and Kaitlyn. He is also survived by his mother, Trinidad Polomo of Garden Grove, CA, brothers; Jesse “Chuy” Palomo of San Clemente, Michael Palomo of Stanton, CA and Rick Palomo of Garden Grove and sister Elizabeth Munoz of Garden Grove.
