Everett Verne Carlson

Everett V. Carlson age 82, of Litchfield died Friday, December 19, 2014, at the Emmanuel Home in Litchfield. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 27, 2014, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Lake Ripley Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the Litchfield Military Honor Guard. Everett Verne Carlson, son of Verne and Freda Carlson, was born on January 23, 1932, in Litchfield, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at Beckville Lutheran Church. He graduated from Litchfield High School in 1950. In the spring of 1950, Everett enlisted in the National Guard. He was honorably discharged as a 1st Lieutenant. On January 16, 1954, he was united in marriage to Marjorie Lindberg, also of Litchfield. Much of his life, Everett was a crop, dairy and poultry farmer in Acton Township. He also worked as a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service for 14 years. Everett served on the Meeker County Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Committee for 13 years. Everett and Marjorie enjoyed traveling and together visited 12 different countries and all 50 states. Everett is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marjorie Carlson of Litchfield; children, Jill (David Hauge) Carlson of DeBary, Florida, Julie (James) Rick of Litchfield, Jodi (Jeffrey) Grams of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Jenny (Aaron) Siegle, Jalayna (Dan) Smith, Hanna (Kyle) Bjorkman, Melissa Grams, Peter Grams, Claire Hauge; great grandchildren, Hope and Liv Siegle, Charlotte Smith, and Josie, Mila and Soren Bjorkman. He is also survived by siblings Bette (Lester) Johnson, Shirley (Gordon) Schmeiser, Verdelle Anderson, Audrey (Butch) Youngbloom, Gale (Candace) Carlson and Rosaland (Henry) Ewald, as well as brother-in-law David (Ann) Lindberg and sister-in-law Gwen Kielty.
