Evelyn H. Seiffert

EVELYN H. SEIFFERT Evelyn was born to Swan and Hilma Hawkinson on August 27, 1915 in Meeker County. She passed away at her home in Carson City, Nevada on June 7, 2011. Evelyn attended schools in Meeker County graduating from Litchfield High School with the class of 1934. On May 17, 1935, she married Henry E. Seiffert of Remer, Minnesota. They made their home a few months in Remer, later moving to a farm near Darwin where they lived twenty two years, thereafter, moving to Litchfield in 1960, Four children were born to this marriage; Faye, Eugene, Neil and Janet. Evelyn was employed by Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for over twenty three years working both in Litchfield and Willmar. Evelyn worked with Hug A Bears, an organization for distressed children and associated with law enforcement. The Hug a Bear concept was developed to provide children involved in stressful situations to help them cope with trauma. Evelyn was the last surviving charter member of the Litchfield Church of the Nazarene. She was one of 21 charter members joining the church at age eleven in the year 1926. Evelyn had a burning desire for missions having served as Missionary President. After her mother's death, the Minnesota District Women's Missionary Society constituted Evelyn as a Life Member on July 28, 1947. She is a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars since November 1988. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry E. Seiffert, in 1972 and three of her children, Eugene, Neil and Janet. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Swan and Hilma Hawkinson, five brothers, Algot Persson, Les Hanson, Bernard McMillan, Clarence Hawkinson and Bennie Hawkinson and one sister, Esther Hawkinson-Wanderschied. She is survived by a daughter, Faye Seiffert-Wheeler, (Jamie), a sister, Ruth Eklund, eleven grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Because of Evelyn's lifelong service to Missions, the family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to First Baptist Church, LARSON MISSIONS, 1600 Boca Chica Blvd., Brownsville, Texas 78520.
