Evelyn B. Mickelson, age 87, of Litchfield died on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at the Emmanuel Home in Litchfield. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Grove City with Pastor Jean Smith officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Lake Ripley Cemetery in Litchfield.
Evelyn B. Mickelson, the daughter of Peter and Georgina (Pederson) Ask, was born on November 21, 1921, in Irvin, Iowa. Her family moved to the Lake Lillian Area and lived for a few years before moving to Acton Township, Meeker County. She graduated from the Litchfield High School. During high school she worked at area cafes. On June 7, 1941, she was united in marriage to Meral Mickelson in Litchfield. Together they farmed in the rural Grove City area. Evelyn owned the Corner Café and worked as a caterer and cook at the VFW. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the VFW Auxiliary. She took pride in her home making skills and enjoyed cooking and baking. She also enjoyed bowling, playing cards and going to rummage sales. Evelyn loved her family and cherished the time spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, Robert (and Darlene) Mickelson of Litchfield, Donald (and Linda) Mickelson of Grove City, Steven Mickelson of Grove City and John (and Nina) Mickelson of Casa Grande, AZ; grandchildren, Shannon (and Bob) Carlson, Justin Mickelson, Kimberly (and Greg) Holm, Krista (and Bradley) DeWolf, James (and Autumn) Mickelson and Shana Mickelson; great grandchildren, Haley, Mikayla, Brandon, Kyle, Laila, Jailyn, Jordon, Cody, and Kaitlyn. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Ruth Ask. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband Meral (in 1992); son, Daniel; brothers, Conrad, Ludwig, Danley and Gordon; sisters, Jenny, Selma, Irene and Edna.
