Eva Mary Manning was born on April 22, 1914, to James and Emily (Johnson-Sundeen) Manning in Greenleaf Township. She married Lee Provencher in Litchfield on August 25, 1942. She taught in rural schools for 20 years and worked along side with Lee when they farmed southwest of Litchfield until 1973 when they moved closer to the city of Litchfield. They ran a fertilizer and chemical company and were known for their hospitality. Every time a customer came, coffee and homemade cookies were offered along with a little conversation. She loved to set a pretty table and was an excellent cook. She was an avid gardener and could put up delicious dill pickles that she shared with family members. Bird watching was a favorite pastime and Eva also was a stamp collector. She was patient and kind in all her doings with people.
