Eva Nelson

Eva M. Nelson, age 86, of Litchfield, died on Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at the Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, June 14, 2010 at the First Lutheran Church with Pastor Christa Forsythe officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 13th from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at First Lutheran and will continue one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Lake Ripley Cemetery in Litchfield. Eva Marie Elaine Nelson, the daughter of Adolph and Esther (Swanson) Franzen, was born on April 1, 1924 in Litchfield, MN. Eva was baptized and confirmed at the Beckville Lutheran Church. She grew up and attended district 59 through the eighth grade. She then attended and graduated from Litchfield High School in 1942. After high school she worked at the Meeker County Court House. On December 10, 1961, she was united in marriage to LeRoy Nelson at Beckville Lutheran. In 1965, She and LeRoy joined the First Lutheran Church in Litchfield. After their daughter Pamela was born in 1967, Eva stayed at home to raise her daughter and be a farm wife. Eva enjoyed every aspect of making a home, from cooking and baking to sewing and cleaning. She also enjoyed working on the farm; raising chickens, Guernsey cows, dogs and cats. She also diligently gardened both flowers and vegetables. Eva loved her “girls” and molded her life around her daughter Pam and granddaughters Alison and Ruby. She is survived by her daughter Pamela (and Larry) Radunz of Hutchinson, granddaughters Alison and Ruby Radunz, sisters-in-law; Aileen (and Kermit) Swanson of Dassel, Hazel Erickson of Litchfield and Marilyn Miller of Litchfield. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Eva was preceded in death by her parents and husband LeRoy in 2003.
