Eunice Mabel Harding

Eunice Mabel Harding, age 99, of Litchfield died on Sunday, July 13, 2014, at the Emmanuel Home in Litchfield. A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, July 18, 2014, at the First Presbyterian Church in Litchfield. Interment will be in the Lake Ripley Cemetery. Eunice was born in Parkston, SD on April 24, 1915, to Herman and Mabel Hettinger Flemming. Eunice graduated from Parkston High School and attended Yankton College, Yankton, SD. While Eunice was there, she met the love of her life, Harold Harding, and was married in Parkston, SD on July 2, 1937. In their early years, they lived in Minneapolis, MN, Urbana, IL and then back Minneapolis, MN. In 1946, Eunice & Harold moved to Litchfield, MN to establish their business, Harding Cleaners, which the two of them, operated until 1968. In 1970, not liking retirement too well, they purchased Christine's Women's Apparel store in Litchfield which they operated together until 1979 when they retired for the second time. Eunice and Harold were blessed to be able spend over 67 years of marriage together. During their retirement they were able to travel throughout the United States including Alaska & Hawaii. They were also fortunate to travel to England where Harold was able to show Eunice where he grew up. Eunice was active in the Presbyterian Church, Eastern Star and General Federated Woman's Club. Some of her interests included sewing, gardening and baking lots of goodies. Eunice is survived by her son Donald (Carol) Harding of Tampa, FL, daughter Joyce (Duane) Rolstad of Buffalo, MN, granddaughters Gretchen (Wyatt) Ping of Brooklyn Park, MN, and Meredith (Chad) Huikko of Buffalo, MN. and great grandchildren Brody and Riley Ping and Marissa and Jenna Huikko. She is preceded in death by here husband, Harold Harding, parents, Herman & Mabel Flemming, her twin sister Esther Kopel and an infant niece.
