Ethel M. Sandry

Ethel M. Sandry, age 71, of Litchfield died on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at the Ecumen Memory Care in Litchfield, MN after battling dementia for three years. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at the First Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday at First Lutheran Church and will continue one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the First Lutheran Cemetery in Grove City, MN. Ethel Mary Sandry, the daughter of Burton and Evelyn (Bartlett) Lundgren, was born on February 24, 1944 in Willmar, MN. She lived in rural Grove City until moving to Newberg Oregon in 1953. She graduated from Newberg High School in 1962 and moved back to Grove City in 1963. Ethel was united in marriage to Richard Sandry in Grove City on June 13, 1964. Together Richard and Ethel live in Grove City until moving to Litchfield in 1987. Ethel was a telephone operator for Bell Telephone Company, then she was a custodian and a lunch lady at the Grove City School. She was also custodian at a couple of churches in the area. Throughout her adult life she worked at several different businesses in the community, including Fingerhut, Innovex, Berk Manufacturing, Mark I, and Proworks. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Litchfield where she taught Sunday School, and was active with the Praise Team, choir, and the First Stringers. She was also active with the Sweet Adaline Chorus and the South Fork Singers. Ethel enjoyed bowling, scrapbooking, singing and spending time with her grandchildren and her dog Butterscotch. She is survived by her husband Richard Sandry of Litchfield, MN; children Kathleen (Philip James) Olson of Paynesville, MN, Tama (Mike) Fisher of Watkins, MN and Jennifer Defries of Litchfield, MN; 4 grandchildren Nicholas Sandry, Carissa Defries, Abbigail Fisher and Douglas Fisher; brothers Thomas (Barb) Lundgren of Ollalla, WA, Robert (Pam Behr) Lundgren of Litchfield, MN and Myron (LeAnn) Lundgren of New London, MN; sisters Cecilia Dorman of Litchfield, MN, Cynthia (Gerald) Rossell of Willmar, MN, Colletta (Brian) Yerka of Fridley, MN and Beatrice Lundgren of Litchfield, MN.
