Ethel Euerle, age 89, of Litchfield, died Wednesday, December 14, 2016, surrounded by family at her home in Litchfield. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, on Monday, December 19, 2016 at the St. Matthews United Church of Christ in Forest City, MN. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 PM on Sunday at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Monday. Ethel Alvina Euerle, the daughter of Henry and Alma (Radunz) Groskreutz, was born on December 11, 1927, in Harvey Twp., Meeker county. She grew up and attended country school in Harvey Township and graduated from Litchfield High School in 1944. Following high school she attended teachers training and began teaching at the age of seventeen at District 71 country school. Ethel was united in marriage to Albert Euerle in Forest City on June 27, 1947. They made their home in Litchfield. She worked as a home maker and mother to her six children. After her children were older she worked as a cook at Bethany and as a book keeper for Minnegasco until she retired in 1986. In retirement she and Albert enjoyed camping, fishing and the outdoors. She also enjoyed crocheting, sewing, embroidery, knitting, gardening and caning. Family was the most important thing in her life. Ethel was an active member of the St. Matthews United Church of Christ where she served on several committees, taught Sunday school and Bible school.
She is survived by her children Douglas Euerle (Brittany) of Clear Lake, Bonnie Euerle (Dave) of Hackensack, Jane Martin of Litchfield, Nancy Stall (Ray) of Backus, Jodi Euerle of Litchfield and Jennifer (Stanton) Schliep of Holmen, Wisconsin; 8 grandchildren: Kristin (Chip) Schmidt, Chad (Shelly) Euerle, Michael Euerle, Billie Jo Durbin, Brandon Stall, Derrick Stall, Tyler (Danelle) Schliep and Anthony Schliep and 8 great grandchildren: Shelby, Cody, Robyn, Jennifer, Jeremy, Conner, Avery and Aubree and 2 great-great grandchildren: Kayleigh and Zoey. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Albert, brothers Clarence and Arnold and sisters Bernice Euerle and Jeanette Hurley. Previous Events
