Esther Arlene Ross

Esther Ross died February 3rd, 2013 at Mt. Olivet Careview Home in Minneapolis, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, February 11, 2013, at the Church of St. Philip. Visitation will be on Sunday, February 10th from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Meeker County Food Shelf, Catholic Charities or a Women's Shelter of your choice. Esther Arlene Geinitz Ross was born in Estherville, IA September 2nd, 1914 to Marie and William Geinitz. Esther graduated from Litchfield High School in 1931 and attended The College of St. Catherine in St. Paul and Normal Business College. On July 20th, 1936 Esther married Roy J. Ross. She and Roy were employed by JC Penney stores across MN. During WW II Esther was active in Ft. Omaha business operations, running the PX and Officer's Club. Esther and Roy moved to Alabama and then Texas where she raised her four children: Dean, Danny, Mary and Joe. They returned to MN in 1961 when Roy became the City Clerk of Litchfield. She worked at Greeps Department Store in Litchfield, was an early employee of Sparboe Farms, serving as their office manager for many years, and also worked in the insurance industry in her later years. Esther was an active member of the St. Philip's Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, Business and Professional Women and many small faith and women's groups. Esther is survived by her children: Dean Kellner of Minneapolis MN, Mary (Ross) Kastner and husband Richard of Walnut Creek CA, and Joseph Ross of Bloomington MN. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jackie (Ross) Poston and husband Patrick, Jeffrey Ross, Brenda (Kellner) Pemble and husband Paul, Beth (Kellner) Sosa and husband Jorge, Ryan Kastner, Liam Kastner, Maura Kastner, and Cerina Chalupsky, as well as nine great-grand children and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings: Wilber Geinitz, Donald Geinitz and Bernice (Geinitz) Berg, husband Roy J Ross and son Daniel Ross.
