Ervin A. Schauer

Ervin A. Schauer, age 84, of Litchfield, MN died on Monday, June 22, 2015 at the Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield, MN. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, June 26, 2015 at the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Litchfield, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be held at Lake Ripley Cemetery in Litchfield, MN. Military Honors will be provided by the Litchfield Military Honor Guard. Ervin Allen Schauer, the son of Ewald and Hilda (Lindemeier) Schauer, was born on October 11, 1930 in Green Isle, MN. He graduated from Glencoe High School in 1949 and served in the United States Air Force. He was united in marriage to Gloria Rutske on October 14, 1951 at the First Lutheran Church in Glencoe, MN. Together they moved to Litchfield in 1956. Ervin worked for Berquist Electric for 7 years before joining the IBEW Union 292, which later changed to the IBEW 343. He worked as a loyal union electrician for 33 years, working on projects throughout Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska. He was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, the American Legion and the IBEW 343 Union. Ervin was known as ""Mr. FixIt"" by his family because if it was broken, he could fix it. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, bowling, making jerky, playing cards with his family and going to the cabin on Lake Koronis. He is survived by his wife Gloria of Litchfield, MN; children Lynett (Wesley) Holmgren of Litchfield, MN, Connie (Robert) Kopplin of Litchfield, MN and Perry Schauer of Litchfield, MN; grandchildren Mocha Dyrud, Cassandra (Jeff) Holmgren, Brooks (Felicia) Holmgren, Chelsea Kopplin and Alex (Annie) Kopplin; great grandchildren Mia Truelove, Finn Dyrud, Eli Dyrud, Talen Reed, Lilyana Kopplin, Silas Kopplin and Elsie Kopplin; and brothers Vern (Sue) Schauer of Minneapolis, MN and Chester Schauer of Alexandria, MN. He will also be missed by Ebony, his cat of 14 years.
