Ervin Linn, 94 of Watkins, passed away on Monday, February 21, 2011 at the Hilltop Care Center in Watkins. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, February 25, 2011 at 10:30 am at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in St. Nicholas. Rev. Thomas Olson and Rev. Richard Gross officiated. Interment was in the St. Nicholas Cemetery. Music was by Julene Faber-Andrusick . Casket bearers were Ervin's six sons, Ralph, Clarence, Richard, Loren, Roger and Gary Linn. Arrangements were by the Ertl Funeral Home, Watkins. Ervin Linn was born to Henry and Margaret (Rajkowski) Linn on May 7, 1916 in Watkins. They later moved to Popple Creek in Foley. When Ervin was 12, they moved back to the Watkins area where he grew up on a farm with 4 sisters and 1 brother and he attended country school though the 8th grade.. On August 30, 1938, Ervin was united in marriage to Louise Hommerding at St. Nicholas Catholic Church. They farmed by Goodner Lake for many years and raised 9 children. He also worked at Nick Bell Wood Products making homemade lumber and he used to thresh grain. Ervin was a member of the St. Nicholas parish and was a member of the St. Nicholas Men's Society and the Knights Of Columbus. His hobbies included playing cards, fishing, watching television, especially baseball, football and wrestling, and listening and dancing to old time music. Throughout the years, Ervin enjoyed hunting with his family and friends and trapping muskrats for the pelts. He enjoyed visits from family and friends and an occasional trip to the casino. Ervin was always eager to lend a helping hand if it was needed. Ervin is survived by his Children and their spouses, Eileen and Max Wakefield of Cottage Grove, Ralph and Theresia Linn of Watkins, Clarence and Marion Linn of Woodbury, Richard and Ann Linn of Shakopee, JoAnn and Ray Schreiner of Cold Spring, Lucy and Vern Schreiner of Richmond, Loren and Betty Linn of Apple Valley, Roger and Neva Linn of Elk River, Gary and Teresa Linn of Watkins; 40 grandchildren, 65 great grandchildren and 7great great grandchildren.; sisters, Mary Lou Kent of Burnsville, Jeanette Conway and her husband, Ed of Newbury Park, CA, Peggy Fritz of Coon Rapids; sister-in-law, Sally Linn of Richmond. .Ervin was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Louise on August 17, 2009; granddaughter, Bonnie Linn, great granddaughter, Ariel Linn; sister, Marcella Linn and brother, Fred Linn.
