Ernest Rusch, age 87, of Darwin, MN, died Thursday, March 29, 2012 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. Visitation will start at 10:00 AM with a memorial service at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at the Darwin Rod and Gun Club. Interment will be at 3:00 PM at the Lake Ripley Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Litchfield Military Honor Guard. Ernest Walter Rusch , the son of Edward and Amelia (Saar) Rusch, was born on March 2, 1925 in Cedar Mills, Township, Meeker County. He grew up south of Litchfield and graduated from Litchfield High School in 1943. He entered the military and served in the U.S. Army during the Occupation of Japan. After his service he returned to Minnesota and lived on the family farm. He helped on the farm and worked at First District. He moved to Darwin and enjoyed his retirement spending time with his identical twin brother Edward, and fishing with his friends, especially Jim Kizer and Curt Anderson. He was a charter member of the Darwin Rod and Gun Club where he was very active. He was also a member of the Eagles and the VFW in Litchfield. Ernest enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He looked forward to Friday night fish fries at Jim's and Saturday afternoons at the gun club. He is survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives. He is also survived by several good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and 8 brothers and sisters: Myrtle, Milan, Donald, Lucille, Orville, Eileen and Lorraine and identical twin Edward.
