Emily Jean Osmundson, the daughter of Harvey and Eva Barnett, was born near Danvers in Swift County, MN. She graduated from Benson High School at the top of her class in June of 1950. Emily moved to Litchfield and began work as a telephone operator. She was married in 1951 and widowed early in her marriage. On October 26, 1957, she was united in marriage to Glen Osmundson in Litchfield. They made their home in Sauk Rapids for a short time before returning to Litchfield. Emily worked as a homemaker and raised her eight children. She thoroughly enjoyed her family, their activities and sporting events. She always opened her home to her children's friends and babysat as well. She and Glen enjoyed their Saturday nights polka dancing. When her children were older, she took classes and become a home health care aide with Meeker County Public Health She worked with the WIC Program, from which she begrudgingly retired at age 72. This work gave her another type of purpose in life; one that her caring heart enjoyed. She cherished the new relationships with her coworkers and the people she cared for. Emily led an active, busy life. She was a participating member of the First Presbyterian Church in Litchfield. She developed a passion for golf at age 50. She had cherished memories of travels to Hawaii, New Zealand/Australia, Russia and visiting family and friends across the U.S. She also liked to read, play cards and was a MN Twins and Vikings fan. She was known for her baked goods, homemade jams and knit dishcloths. She enjoyed gardening, life with her cat, sewing, creating ""prize winning"" quilts and sock monkeys. Many holes were patched with her love and needle work. She also had a curious fondness of merry-go-rounds and at age 80 found a pony to ride at the Mall of America. Emily especially loved the magic of Christmas, the time when her family was together.
