Emeline Alwine Evans

Emeline A. Evans, age 93, of Litchfield died on Wednesday, October 24, 2012, at Emmanuel Home of Litchfield. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 27, 2012, at the Augustana Chapel 200 North Holcombe Ave. Litchfield. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Interment will be in the All Saints Lutheran Cemetery in Darwin. Emeline Alwine Evans, the daughter of Rudolph and Alwine (Erbes) Weinkauf, was born on January 30, 1919, in Comfrey, MN. She grew up in Comfrey and received her education there, graduating from Comfrey High School in 1937. She continued her education at Beauty School in Mankato. On October 13, 1940, she was united in marriage to Morris Evans at the Salem Lutheran Church in Comfrey. She worked as a homemaker until she went to work as a meat cutter for Fairway Foods. They lived in Comfrey until 2005 when they moved to Litchfield. Emeline was a very active member of Salem Lutheran Church and was a part of the quilting group and ladies aid. She also supported the ministry of Green Lake Bible Camp. They were also very active in the Senior Citizen activities as well. She was a member of the Brown County Triad Club and a flower club. Emeline was a 66 year breast cancer survivor who was honored at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and Litchfield Relay for Life. She enjoyed quilting, reading, bingo and putting puzzles together. She also enjoyed fishing and family camping. She is survived by her children Barry (Sandy) Evans of Atwater, Karen (Byron) Johnson of Litchfield, Randy (Jeanette) Evans of Staples, Natalie (Max) Seim of Cottage Grove and Annette (Jim) Barnes of Darwin, 20 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Morris, brother Arley Weinkauf, sisters Arline Falk, Rowena Peterson and Geraldine Benson.
