Elsie L. Genzler, age 86, of Litchfield died on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at the Meeker Manor Rehabilitation Center in Litchfield. Family and friends may gather at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home on Thursday, March 15th beginning at 1:00 PM. The visitation will continue until the committal service at 3:00 PM at the Ripley Cemetery.
Elsie Luella Genzler, the daughter of Pete and Susie (Wipf) Unruh, was born on January 11, 1932 in Onida, SD. She grew up in Onida and received her education there. Elsie worked at a bible camp as a cook for a couple years after she finished school. After that she and her sister managed the ice cream parlor at her parents meat locker. On May 25, 1958, she was united in marriage to Vern Genzler in Onida. they moved to the Swift Falls area in 1965. In 1975, they moved to the Pennock area. In 1979, they moved to rural Atwater where they worked at the Earl B. Olson Turkey Farms. Vern died in 2002 and Elsie moved to Grove City where she lived for several years before moving to Litchfield. She enjoyed gardening, especially flowers, and crossword puzzles. Elsie loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children Travas Genzler of Dickenson, ND, Delilah (Robert) Bredeson of Cambridge; grandchildren Brooks (Anna) Bredeson, Blake (Dani) Bredeson, Damon (Tiffany) Genzler, Melaina (Jake) Fisher, Kayla Bredeson, Tianna (Dalton) Harms; great grandchildren Hayli, Savanna, Tyler, Ryder, Brooklyn, Nova, Claire, Owen and Cason. She is also survived by her brother Andy Unruh of Sioux Falls, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Vern, brother Jake (Bonnie) Unruh and sister Edna (Clayton) Cunningham.
