Elaine M. Hartz, age 70, of Litchfield died on Sunday, January 23, 2011 at the Emmanuel Home in Litchfield. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at the Church of St. Philip with Father Joseph Steinbeisser officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Tuesday, January 25th at the Church of St. Philip with parish prayers at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the services at the church. The rosary will be prayed at 9:45 AM on Wednesday at the church. Interment will be in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Litchfield. Elaine Mary Hartz, the daughter of Martin and Ellen (Dougherty) Brulla, was born on December 30, 1940, in Eden Valley, MN. She grew up and received her education in Eden Valley, graduating from Eden Valley High School in 1958. On September 3, 1960, she was united in marriage to Darryl Hartz at the Assumption Catholic Church in Eden Valley. Elaine worked at the First State Bank, J.C. Penney, and the Village Shop. She also worked as the St. Philip parish secretary for 5 years. Elaine was a wonderful cook and used this talent when she worked at Econo Foods preparing food samples for people to try. She was an active member at St. Philip's and was involved in the CCW and Catholic Aid. She could be found in the kitchen at almost every event involving food at St. Philips. Elaine chaired the funeral serving committee for 35 years. She was also involved with Home Extension and a card club. Elaine served as Election Judge for 39 years. She enjoyed people and socializing with friends. She loved to cook and bake and also enjoyed quilting, embroidering, reading and playing cards. She is survived by her children; Todd (and Barbara) Hartz of Avondale, PA, and Kimberly (and Michael) Reger of Payson, AZ, grandchildren; Melanie Reger, Michael Reger, Darryl Hartz and Nicole Hartz, great grandchildren; Riley Reger and McKenna Leslie. She is also survived by her sisters; Mary Ann (and Robert) Hammer of Hutchinson and Patricia (and Walter) Westerhoff of St. Joseph, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Robert and brothers; Donald Brulla and Leonard Brulla. Previous Events
