Elaine F. Ainslie, age 76, of Cosmos, died on Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at the Buffalo Lake Health Care Center. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, January 18, 2014, at the Peace Lutheran Church in Cosmos. Friends and family may gather one hour prior to the service. Interment will be later in Hay Springs, Nebraska. Elaine Fay Ainslie, the daughter of Ray and Lydia Josephine (Fulton) Douglas, was born on December 16, 1937, in Upton, WY. She graduated from Upton High School in 1956. She continued her education at Central Business College in Denver for a year. She then worked for a year at the Union State Bank in Upton before entering Chadron State Teachers College in Chadron, NE. She majored in Home Economics and Secondary Education. She graduated in May of 1962 and in that same month was united in marriage to Leo Alford Ainslie on the 25th. They lived near Moses Lake, WA, while Leo was in the Air Force. They returned to Wyoming and lived in Douglas for about a year. They moved to Riverton, WY and lived there for 61/2 years. In 1971, Leo took a job with Polar Gas and Fertilizer Company in Cosmos, MN. Two years later Elaine became a widow at age 35. Elaine worked at Finger Hut for a short time before working as a Nurse's Aid and the Cosmos Health Care Center until it was no longer a nursing home. She was very active with her children's activities and spent 8 years as a Girl Scout Leader and approximately 20 years as a Sunday School Teacher. She was a very devoted member of the Cosmos United Methodist Church until it closed. She then became a member of Peace Lutheran Church where she continued to nurture her strong faith. She enjoyed word puzzles, embroidering and sewing. But, most of all she enjoyed family and nearly every year she would take the children to visit Leo's side of the family as well as her own. She is survived by her children, Connie Ainslie of Cosmos, Deborah (and James) Head of Homen, WI, Jim (and Pamela) Ainslie of Cosmos; grandsons, Joshua (and Lori) Ainslie and Mitchel Ainslie; great granddaughter, Evolet Ainslie. She is also survived by her brother Raymond (and Amy) Douglas of Osage, WY; sister, Joyce (and John) Welch of Laramie, WY, many nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law Vivian Ainslie of Hay Springs, NE, Francis Robbins of Cheyenne, WY, LaRue Ainslie of Osage, WY and Lillian Ainslie of Oregon. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Leo Ainslie, sister, Jeanette Ohler and three half brothers.Previous Events
