Edna was born Oct. 17, 1926, in Fillmore County to Edward and Ella Barnewitz. She was married to John (Jack) Young on Sept. 21, 1946, at Witoka Methodist Church. Edna worked at Target in Knollwood and as an electrical technician at Electro Craft in Hopkins before retiring in 1986.
Jack and Edna moved to Clear Lake in Watkins until 1997, then moved to Kimball, until April 2016 when they moved to Hilltop Care Center in Watkins.
Edna was a lifetime member of Watkins VFW, Watkins Lions, Watkins Senior Citizens, and Kimball United Methodist Church. Jack and Edna were married seventy years.
Edna is survived by her son, Terry, Minneapolis; daughters, Sheryl Marek of Minnetonka, Pat (Rick) Betsinger of Becker, and brother Donald (Helen) of Winona. grandchildren, Chad (Kelly), Molly (Jim), Kimberly (Chris), Richard Jr. (Jeri), Andy (Jill), Dustin (Janel); great-grandchildren, Jack, Levi, Layla, Wyatt, Ruby, Josie, Grant, Reese, Allison, Jamie, Veronica, Verrnenn and Katie.
Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, son, Dougie; son-in-law, Jim Marek; brother, Melvin; sisters, Thelma, Evelyn, Violet, twin sister Ella, Alice, Jeanette, and Betty.
