Edna Oldenburg

March 10, 1931 — October 14, 2024

Edna G. Oldenburg, age 93, of Litchfield, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday, October 14, 2024, at Lakeside Generations Assisted Living Center in Dassel, MN.  A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 25, 2024, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Litchfield with Reverend Thomas Evenson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. Interment will follow at Lake Ripley Cemetery.

Edna was born on March 10, 1931, in Gloucester, England to William and Constance Blewitt. She was one of six children. She grew up and received her education in Gloucester. She had vivid memories of growing up during the hardships of World War II. Edna married the love of her life, Pete, a U. S. Army soldier stationed in England, on January 27, 1953. They met while celebrating their shared March 10th birthdays. In 1954, they moved to Litchfield, Minnesota with their two children, Steven and Shirley. Patricia was born in Litchfield. They were together for over 70 years and shared a lifetime of memories, three children, seven grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren. Edna was proud to earn her U. S. citizenship on October 4, 1962. She was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Women’s Auxiliary, and a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Litchfield. Edna enjoyed knitting and canning. She loved reading, watching old movies, listening to music, and dancing. She followed the royal family. She loved to laugh and had a wonderful sense of humor. Most of all, she loved her family.

Left to fondly remember Edna’s life are her brother, Mike (Mary), of England; her children: Steven (Mary) Oldenburg of Minnesota, Shirley (Hal) Olimb of Florida, and Patti (Joe) Westphall of Minnesota; her grandchildren: Jeremy (Stephanie) Westphall of Minnesota, Nathan (Lindsay) Westphall of Minnesota, Ryan (Sheila) Oldenburg of North Carolina, Dalton Oldenburg of Minnesota, Sarah (Matt) Bledsoe of Alabama, Andrew (Cassandra) Olimb of Florida, and Zachary (Sarah) Olimb of Kansas; 17 great- grandchildren; her extended family in England; her sisters-law: Alice Harding of Minnesota, Irene Burress of Colorado, Shirley Oldenburg of Minnesota, and many nieces and nephews; and her very special friends at Lakeside Generations Assisted Living Center.

Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Martin “Pete” Oldenburg; her parents William and Constance Blewitt; her siblings Stan, Connie, Gordon, and Billy; and her grandson Erick Olimb.

The family expresses gratitude to all the doctors, nurses, and care givers at Lakeside Generations Assisted Living Center in Dassel and to the Ecumen Hospice care givers.
