Edna Marie Clarice Engum

Edna Engum, age 91, of Litchfield, MN, died on Sunday, April 1, 2012, at Ecumen Emmanuel Home in Litchfield. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield, MN. A visitation will be held from 5:30 - 7:00 PM on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at the Augustana Memorial Chapel in Litchfield. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be held at Lake Ripley Cemetery in Litchfield, MN. Edna Marie Engum, the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth (Benck) Melby was born on March 17, 1921 in Canby, MN. She graduated from Canby High School in 1939 and continued her education at a business college in Minneapolis, where she met Douglas Engum. They were united in marriage on October 4, 1941, at an uncle's farm near Canby, MN, and together they enjoyed 66 years of marriage. Following Douglas' military service they lived in Minneapolis a short period of time and then moved to Litchfield in 1946. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Litchfield V.F.W. Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling, crocheting, reading, doing word puzzles, dancing with her husband and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Edna is survived by her children, Douglas Jr. (and Judy) Engum of Minneapolis, MN, Stanley Engum of Worthington, MN, Kathy Jo (and Dean) Laidlaw of St. Cloud, MN; grandchildren, Johanna Engum, Nathan (and Beth) Engum, Tara (and Christian) Larson, Tori (and Steven) Manz; great grandchildren, Tristen Larson, Gavin Larson, Elana Engum and Owen Engum; brothers, David (and Alice) Melby of Batesville, AR, and Henry Melby of Jacksonville, FL; sister Harriet Mead of Willmar, MN and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Elizabeth; husband Douglas in 2007; her sister Phyllis and brother Norman.
