Edgar Marklowitz

Edgar “Popup” Marklowitz, age 96, of Litchfield, MN, died Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at the Emmanuel Nursing Home, in Litchfield, MN. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 1:30 PM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Litchfield, MN with Pastor Paul Lindhorst officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be held in Lake Ripley Cemetery, Litchfield, MN. Arrangements by Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Edgar Marklowitz was born on October 13, 1912 in Benton County, MN to Fred and Caroline (Scoroposki) Marklowitz. He grew up on a farm in Popple Creek and received his education in Main Prairie Township. On September 29, 1936 he was united in marriage to Alvina “Al” Meyer in St. Augusta. Together they lived north of Darwin, MN and later moved to a farm southwest of Litchfield, MN. During this time he dairy farmed, raised beef cattle and crop farmed. He was also a sales representative for Pioneer Seed for 28 years. Ed was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and the Litchfield Lions Club. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, pitching horseshoes and winning while golfing and playing cards. He also enjoyed watching baseball, traveling, wintering in Arizona and fishing trips to Canada and Alaska. Ed is survived by his wife Al of Litchfield; children LaVonne (and Hal) Huso of Litchfield, MN and Ed Jr. (and Joey) Marklowitz of Litchfield, MN; grandchildren Dawn Marklowitz (and Dan Rajewsky) of Paynesville, MN and Carey (and Brett) Greenwald of Las Vegas, Nevada; and great grandson Kenny Greenwald. He is also survived by a sister Mata Forcier of Minneapolis, MN and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Caroline; and 16 siblings Julius, Augusta, Fred, Bertha, August, William, John, Emma, Helen, Henry, Alma, Edwin, Edward, an infant brother, Olga and Anna.
