Douglas D. Haagenson, 72 of Manannah MN died Sunday September 9, 2012 unexpectedly, close to his home with is dog in Manannah. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Thursday, September 13, 2012 at the Nordland Lutheran Church in rural Paynesville. Pastor Rob Kemppainen will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at the Church of Our Lady Social Hall in Manannah, MN. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service at the church on Thursday. A private interment will be held at the Manannah Catholic Cemetery. Douglas Dennis Haagenson, was born on February 14, 1940 on the Fred Marshall Farm of Union Grove Township, MN. He was the son of Arnold and Rose (McCann) Haagenson. July 12, 1975 he was united in marriage to Donna Cumber at Nordland Lutheran church. Doug began working at the age of 17 on the McCarney family farm and was still helping with harvest this fall. He also work for his father driving milk truck at the Manannah Creamery, and was a heavy equipment operator for McCandless Construction. He then spent 37 years at Meeker County , as a mechanic and then lead man out of Grove City. Doug stayed active in retirement. He helped maintain the grounds at the Nordland and Burr Oak Cemeteries, fish, play cards with his cousins and usher at Nordland. Doug was a fabulous grandpa, who believed the riches in his life were his family and 13 grandchildren. The town of Manannah will never quite be the same without a purple golf cart, a big white dog and Doug making sure all was in its place. Doug is survived by his loving wife, Donna of Mannanah. Daughters Juliet (Bryan) Brutger of Eden Valley, Amanda (James) Anderson of Sartell, and Debra Kummet of Eden Valley. 13 grandchildren: Jared, Shaylei, Lila, and Stella Brutger; Madisyn, Caleb, and Lydia Ellevold; Eedan, Emily and Marie Anderson; and Stephanie, Melissa, Mikayla Kummet and their father Joseph. Brother James (Patsi) Haagenson of Watkins, sister Mary (Daniel) of St. Stephen, sister-in-law Marion Haagenson of Litchfield, brother-in-law Gary (Fay) of St Louis Park, MN. Step-sister Arlene Witte (Marv) of Hutchinson and step-brother Duane Nicul (Barb) of rural Eden Valley. Nephew Gene Haagenson of Washington DC and niece Tracy (Shane) Herdina of Sartell.
