Dorothy E. Rassler

Dorothy E. Rassler, age 86, of Litchfield, MN, died on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at the Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grove City, MN with Pastor Patrick Ziems officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Tuesday at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home, Litchfield, MN. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be held in the Arndahl Cemetery in Grove City. Dorothy Ellen Rassler, the daughter of Arthur and Ethel (Peterson) Dahl, was born on February 1, 1927 in Motley, MN. She graduated from Motley High School in 1944 and also graduated from St. Cloud State College in 1946. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Rassler in rural Motley on June 11, 1947. Together they started their married life living on Dorothy's parents farm. She taught school for 2 years in Rockford, MN and then raised her family and helped on the family farm. In the 1950's they moved to Iowa and farmed until they moved back to Minnesota in 1961 where they bought a farm. Dorothy lived there until January 13, 2013. Dorothy enjoyed helping with the farm work and in the home, she also helped Murial Larson with her catering business. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was active in the Ladies Aid and served on the church board. She loved quilting with the church ladies and taught Sunday School at Arndahl for many years. She was active in Home Extension, the Foreign Shoppers and the Birthday Club. Dorothy was a MN Twins baseball fan and enjoyed travelling, bird watching and had a passion for gardening and flowers. She could take a scrap of fabric and turn it into a beautiful quilt. Dorothy was a second mom to her children's friends and grandma to the neighborhood kids, and the kids in Bonnie's Daycare in her later years. She loved to feed friends and family and no one ever walked away from her table hungry. She is survived by her children, Andreana (Rassler) Michalski of Grove City, MN, Dorinda Rassler of Grove City, MN, David (and Coleen) Rassler of Litchfield, MN, Bonnie (and Mark) Konietzko of Grove City, MN and Brian (and Andy) Rassler of Concord, NC; 6 grandchildren, Perry (and Carly) Rassler of Maple Grove, MN, Trisha Rassler of Litchfield, MN, Angela (and Eliot) Bieniek of Annandale, MN, Kenneth (and Tracie) Konietzko of Las Vegas, NV, Samantha Rassler of Concord, NC and Benjamin Rassler of Concord, NC; 10 great grandchildren, Tayler Rassler of Litchfield, MN, Kodie Bundrock of Buhl, MN, Brooklyn Rassler of Litchfield, MN, Griffin Rassler of Maple Grove, MN, Cooper Rassler of Maple Grove, MN, Bo Bieniek of Annandale, MN, Nicholas Bieniek of Annandale, MN, Jada Bieniek of Annandale, MN, Keeghan Konietzko of Las Vegas, NV and Reilly Konietzko of Las Vegas, NV; and a sister Hazel (Dahl) McMillin of St. Louis Park, MN.
