Olson, age 91, of rural Watkins died on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at the Dassel Lakeside Community Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 9, 2016, at the Ostmark Lutheran Church in rural Watkins. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Sunday, May 8th at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield and also one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Ostmark Lutheran Cemetery. Dorothy May Olson, the daughter of Carl and Olive (Larson) Reed was born in rural Dassel on October 18, 1924. She attended grade school in rural District 6 in Kingston township and graduated from Dassel High School in 1943. Dorothy worked in Minneapolis for a short time before moving to Washington state to work for Boeing. On February 10, 1945, she was united in marriage to Arnold C. Olson. They made their home in rural Watkins. She was an active member of the Ostmark Lutheran Church. Dorothy enjoyed baking, quilting, sewing, camping and visiting with friends. She loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Gary (and Donna) Olson of Litchfield, Orlin Olson of Watkins, Steven (and Paige) Olson of Litchfield and Gayle (and Jim) Barka of Mora; 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Betty (and Glenn) Rosenow of Grove City; brother Allen (and Rosanna) Reed of Litchfield, sister-in-law Barbara Reed of Cokato, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arnold, brothers Kenneth, Hubert, Roy and Carl, and sister Elaine.
