Doris Mortenson

Doris Mortenson age 90 of Litchfield died Sunday, December 14, 2008 at the Emmanuel Nursing Home in Litchfield, MN. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2008 at 10:00AM at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Litchfield with Pastor Dale Swartz officiating. Visitation for Doris will be on Friday from 4:00-7:00PM at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Inurnment will be at the Ripley Cemetery Doris R. Mortenson was born on January 2, 1918 to Oscar and Anna (Strom) Almgren in Lake Bronson, MN. Her father Oscar was a blacksmith in Cedar Mills, where she grew up. She attended school in Hutchinson and graduated from the Litchfield High School. Doris was united in marriage to Roy Mortenson in January of 1943 in Litchfield, MN. Doris worked for Anderson Chemical in Litchfield and the Wilmot Clinic. She also worked for Lincoln Apartments for 17 years and was the Deputy County Treasurer in Meeker County for 18 years. Doris always had a clean house and will be remembered for being a good cook. Doris was an active member of the Trinity Episcopal Church, where she was involved in various committees. She was passionate about family and enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter. Doris is survived by her son, Jon (MaryAnn) Mortenson of Litchfield; 1 granddaughter, Amanda Mortenson; 2 step granddaughters Stephanie & Cheryl Baier; great granddaughter Cerenity Baier & sister June Almgren of Ft. Myers, FL besides other loving relatives and friends. Doris is preceded in death by her husband Roy; son Jim; 5 sisters Alice Kielty, Lillian Geinitz, Margaret Blattner, Ruth Halverson and Amy Toper; and brother Roy. Peace be to her memory
