Donald N. Dougherty, age 75, of Litchfield, died Thursday November 23, 2017 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home with a Prayer Service at 7:30 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the Church of St. Philip in Litchfield, MN with reviewal one hour before the service.
Donald Norbert Dougherty, the son of John and Mabel (Tuman) Dougherty, was born on October 9, 1942 in Litchfield, MN. He graduated from Litchfield High School in 1960. Don was united in marriage to Diane Holtz on August 18, 1979 on the Dougherty family farm. He worked for Cargill in Litchfield for 34 years full time and 5 years part time, where he delivered feed and corn and bought grain. He retired for two weeks before he began working for the City of Litchfield. He was on the Meeker County Co-Op Board and active with the Rescue Squad for many years. Don enjoyed working, gardening, getting together with family, traveling with Diane, and watching football and Nascar. He truly enjoyed the people of Litchfield and was an avid cribbage player. He will be remembered for his conversation, jokes, good-natured b.s., strong opinions and his kind and generous personality.
He is survived by his children Todd Anderson of Duluth, MN, Tammy (and Russell) Rueckert of Litchfield, MN, Taree Walrod of Cannon Falls, MN and Tasha (and Ruth Moris) Anderson of Maplewood, MN; brother John (Margenia) Dougherty of Radcliff, KY; sisters Karen (Duane) Louisiana of Monticello, MN, Kate (Jack) Nelson of Shakopee, MN, Dianne Hierlmaier of Hutchinson, MN and Carol Pehle (friend Doug) of Plymouth, MN; 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Diane; parents John and Mabel Dougherty; son-in-law Dave Walrod; brother-in-law Chris Pehle and his dog Lucky.
