Donald A. Berg, age 81, of Grove City, MN, died on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at his home in rural Grove City, MN. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, September 30, 2008, at the Cornerstone Church in Litchfield, MN with Pastor Mike Zylstra officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield and will continue one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at Ripley Cemetery, Litchfield, MN.
Donald Alvin Berg, the son of Albin and Hilda (Olson) Berg, was born on June 5, 1927, in Litchfield, MN. He was baptized in Christ at the Church of Christ in Litchfield, MN. He received his education at Litchfield High School. Donald spent his entire life on the family farm in Grove City, where he took over the farm when he was 16 years old. When Donald was 23 years old he was united in marriage to Donna Blue in Elk River on August 19, 1950. Together they continued to operate the family farm. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church where he was a deacon, board member and treasurer. He later returned to the Litchfield Christian Church as a member, server and was active with the building committee. He was a member of the Meeker County Fair Board, a poultry superintendent and active with the Forest City Threshers. Donald’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his family.
Donald is survived by his wife Donna; 4 children Franklin (and Rita) Berg of Hector, MN, Diane (and Bob) Henderson of Wichita, Kansas, Richard (and Tanya) Berg of Lakeville, Michael (and Monique) Berg of Farmington, MN; 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and a sister Arlene Brown of Litchfield. He is also survived by nephew Ronald Brown and other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Albin and Hilda; and a brother-in-law Arnold Brown.
