Donald ""Don"" Farmer, age 90, died on Friday, March 15, 2013, at Ecumen Emmanuel Home in Litchfield. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at 11:00 AM First Lutheran Church in Litchfield with Pastor Christa Forsythe officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be held in the Lake Ripley Cemetery with military honors provided by the Litchfield Honor Guard. Donald Wesley Farmer the son of Aden and Bessie (Mayes) Farmer was born on May 7, 1922, in Geff, Illinois. Don moved to Minnesota when he was 12 years old. After his schooling Don worked with farmers in the area. He entered the United States Army in October of 1942 and served during World War II in the South Pacific. He was united in marriage to Lyla Peterson on November 20, 1954, at Lebanon Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. This union blessed them with three sons Dick, Duane and Bob. Don spent 28 years working at First District in Litchfield. He was a dedicated grandfather to his four granddaughters and enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, playing cards, and spending time at the cabin. Don was a member of the VFW, Golden Age Club and First Lutheran Church. Don is survived by his three sons; Dick (Peggy) Farmer, Duane Farmer and Bob (Judy) Farmer all of Litchfield. He is also survived by 4 granddaughters; Kristen Farmer and Fiancé Jason Bakeberg, Kelsey Farmer, Kim Farmer, and Becky Farmer, brother; Tom (Delores) Stafford of Hutchinson and sister-in-law; Hyldred Peterson of Minneapolis, many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Don was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lyla, 5 sisters and 1 brother. Previous Events
