Diane S. Dougherty, age 69, of Litchfield died early Tuesday, November 23, 2010, at the North Memorial hospital in Robbinsdale. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 27th, at the Zion Lutheran Church with pastors Harvey Nelson and Christian Muellerleile officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday at the Zion Lutheran Church and will continue one hour prior to the service.
Diane Sandra Dougherty, the daughter of Robert and Bernice (Kunze) Holtz, was born on August 7, 1941 in Litchfield. She grew up and received her education in Litchfield, graduating from the Litchfield High School in 1959. After school she lived in Savage for about five years before returning to Litchfield. She then attended training and became a CNA. On August 18, 1979, she was united in marriage to Don Dougherty on the Dougherty family farm. Diane worked at Bethany for 29 years, but her fondness for people allowed her to stay retired for only two years. For the past three years she has continued her enjoyment of people through her work at the Holiday Gas Station. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and the VFW Auxiliary. Diane enjoyed her many years on a women's softball league and was an avid bowler. She liked to keep busy by gardening, cooking, baking, crocheting and knitting. Recently she enjoyed travelling with Don. Diane gained great joy from her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and liked to organize many family gatherings. She is survived by her husband Don Dougherty of Litchfield, children; Todd Anderson of St. Cloud, Tammy (and Russell) Rueckert of Litchfield, Taree (and Dave) Walrod of Cannon Falls, and Tasha (and Ruth Moris) Anderson of Maplewood, and mother, Bernice Holtz of Litchfield, 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Darrell (and Pat) Holtz of Casa Grande, AZ, Richard Holtz (and special friend Wanda Jaster) of Litchfield, sisters, Karen (and David) Winters of Rochester, Mardell Starr (and special friend Dale Johnston) of Milford, Iowa. She is also survived by her in-laws; John (and Margena) Dougherty of Redcliff, KY, Kate (and Jack) Nelson of Shakopee, Karen (and Duane) Louisiana of Monticello, Carol Ann Pehle (and special friend Doug Karon) of Excelsior and Diane Hierlmaier of Hutchinson, besides many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, grandmother Rosie Kunze and Justin Shoutz (fiancé of granddaughter Danielle). Previous Events
