Dewey Dwight Lounsbury

Dewey D. Lounsbury, age 87, of Litchfield, MN, died on Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at the Emmanuel Home in Litchfield, MN. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 21, 2015, at St. Matthews United Church of Christ in Forest City, MN with Pastor Jeanne Bringgold-Pro officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Friday, March 20, 2015, at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield, MN with a 8:00 PM Prayer service and will continue one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be held at Lake Ripley Cemetery, Litchfield, MN. Dewey Dwight Lounsbury, the son of Russell and Carol (Ranney) Lounsbury was born on January 12, 1928, in Union Grove Township, Meeker County, MN. He grew up near Manannah and attended country school. He enlisted in the US. Navy and served from January of 1946 until November of 1947. He was united in marriage to Lorraine Topp on January 22, 1949 and they made their home in the Paynesville and Manannah area. He was a member of the Peace United Church of Christ in Eden Valley, MN and the American Legion. Dewey worked as a truck driver and drove for various local companies. He enjoyed reading the sports section of the newspaper and watching the Twins and Vikings. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren's sporting events. He loved the country life and raising chickens. Dewey enjoyed a game of horseshoes, especially if he could beat one of his brothers. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends over a cup of coffee. Dewey is survived by his children Bonnie (and Terry) Ash of Milaca, MN, Rocky (and Peggy) Lounsbury of Hutchinson, MN, Roger (and Julie) Lounsbury of Litchfield, MN, Becky (and Wade) Kindseth of Litchfield, MN, Kris (and Von) Grotto of Litchfield, MN and Jackie (and John) McCann of Grove City, MN; 17 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 2 step-great grandchildren. He was also survived by his brothers, Rollie (and Geraldine) Lounsbury of St. Maria, ID, David (and Connie) Lounsbury of Monticello, MN; sisters, Floris Mickley of Petaluma, CA, Donna Burr of Litchfield and Lucy Urdahl of Litchfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russel and Carol; wife, Lorraine; daughter Kathy Kadelbach; brothers, Robert and Darrel; sisters, Mabel Lahr, Jane Holle, Lyla Dischinger, Leila Seifert, and Dorothy Lounsbury; and great granddaughter Riley Ash.
