Dennis M. Grotto

Dennis M. Grotto, age 64 of Grove City, MN died on Monday, February 27, 2017 in Grove City. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 6, at Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield, MN. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Sunday at the Zion Lutheran Church and will continue one hour prior to the service on Monday. Interment will be held at Lake Ripley Cemetery, Litchfield, MN. Dennis Michael Grotto, the son of LaVon and Arlyn (Hunter) Grotto was born on March 7, 1952 in Willmar, MN. He attended rural country School District 75 and graduated from Litchfield High School in 1970. Dennis continued his education at Willmar Vo-Tech. Over the years, Dennis worked for Tonka Toys, Ideal Lumber, Arnold's Implement and IRD. During this time he also worked and farmed with his brother Von. Dennis was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church and was a volunteer for many causes that he found worthwhile. He enjoyed snowmobile racing, antique tractor pulls, collecting John Deere items, motorcycling, farming, going to auctions, having coffee with his friends in town, spending time with family, reconnecting with old friends, reminiscing about family history and telling the story behind pictures, cards and letters. Dennis used lists in his daily life, and always had a pen and notepad in his shirt pocket. He had the ability to find meaning and connections in the things that he did, and could often be found drinking Coca-Cola and snacking on Doritos, Twizzlers Licorice, and Peanut M&Ms. He will be remembered for his meticulous personality and knack for fixing, tinkering, reinventing and repurposing. He is survived by his mother Arlyn Grotto of Litchfield, MN; children Jacklin (Justin) Hedtke of Atwater, MN and Michael (Corrine) Grotto of Dassel, MN; grandchildren Brett, Brendan, Brayden, Brock and Brooke Hedtke; Hunter, Natalie and Isaac Grotto; and Kaylee, Sydney and Cambria Greiner; siblings Von (Kris) Grotto of Litchfield, MN, Kathy (Jeff Anderton) Grotto of Hailey, Idaho; Lori Grotto of St. Cloud, MN and Jill (Bob) Schwartz of Litchfield, MN; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
