Dennis H. Boettcher, age 67, of Litchfield died on Monday, October 17, 2011 at the Meeker Memorial Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 21, 2011 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield with Pastor Harvey Nelson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in the Lake Ripley Cemetery with Military Honors by the Litchfield Military Honor Guard. Dennis Harold Boettcher, the son of Harold and Luetta (Schmidt) Boettcher was born on August 31, 1944, in Mason City, Iowa. He grew up in Kensett and received his education from Northwood-Kensett Schools. He entered the U.S. Air Force in September of 1961. After his military service he moved to Litchfield and worked for Rod Magnuson at his gas station. He met Bonnie Welsand and on September 8, 1967, they were married in Northwood, Iowa. They made their home in Litchfield and Dennis worked for Custom Products for many years. He then worked at Hutchinson Manufacturing for about ten years before working in Cosmos for a short time. Dennis then worked at Dura Supreme for a while before working at the Meeker County Court House as custodian. In the last days of Bonnie's life, he stayed with her everyday to care for her. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church. Dennis enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years and was a member of the American Legion. He loved country music and watching old western movies. He especially loved his family and visiting, teasing and joking with friends.
He is survived by his daughter Tammy (and Kerry) Zurek of Eau Claire, WI; brother Richard Boettcher (and Judy) of Fallon, Nevada; sisters Judy (and Bob) VerBrugge and Bonnie (and Marv) Francis both of Mason City, Iowa. He is also survived by his father-in-law Marlyn Carlson of Dassel; brother-in-law Bob Welsand of Monticello and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Bonnie.
