Dennis Larry Anderson

Dennis Larry Anderson, age 52, died at his home on Wednesday, August 6th after a long courageous battle with kidney cancer surrounded by his loving family. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday August 12, 2014 starting at 4pm with a very short ""5 minute"" service (as requested by Dennis) at 6pm then everyone is invited to stay after for some food and have a time to share memories of Dennis at Cornerstone Church in Litchfield. Born July 4th 1962 in Meeker County to Larry and Junice Anderson, He grew up on the family farm and attended school in Dassel/Cokato. Dennis has served in the Army National Guard, has been an owner of the Kingston Crow Bar and he has also been the Mayor of Kingston. On June 29, 1991, he was united in marriage to Cheri Draxten at St. Mathews Church of Christ in Forest City, MN. Dennis and his family lived on a hobby farm where he enjoyed spending time in his screen house, playing cards, gardening, canning, raising animals, spending time with family and friends, and also having many bonfires. Dennis worked for the Litchfield School District 465 for 25 years until becoming ill. He volunteered his time on different projects for the City of Litchfield. He worked with the Sentence to Serve program and helped the Sherriff's department after work. Dennis will be especially remembered for being a very giving and helpful person. He would always try to help anyone he could with whatever he could. He always would put others before himself and never ask for anything in return. He will be remembered for the ready smile he always had. Survivors include his wife Cheri of 23 years, son Tyler, daughter Ashley all of Kingston, mother Junice of Kingston, sister Cory (Curt) Widmark of South Haven, brother Todd Anderson of Kingston, brother Allen (Jody) Anderson of South Haven and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins .
