Delton D. Rick, age 86, of Litchfield died peacefully at home on Friday, May 26, 2017. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 2nd at the Cornerstone Church in Litchfield. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Thursday, June 1st at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home and will continue 1 hour prior to service at the church. Interment will be in the Lake Ripley Cemetery with military honors by the Litchfield Military Honor Guard.
Delton DeWayne Rick, the son of Charles and Elsie (Mahnke) Rick, was born on January 17, 1931, in Forest City Township. He attended country school in Forest City and later graduated from Litchfield High school in 1949. He entered the U.S. Airforce and served in Okinawa Japan during the Korean Conflict as a Staff Sergeant. He married Doris Hauser, while in the service in 1951, and they had two children. After his service he returned to Litchfield and worked for the city. Del married Joyce Inselman in 1962. In 1973, he was married to Donna Carlson. They lived in Litchfield and Del worked as a mail carrier until he retired. In retirement he worked for Gold Cross driving the Medi-Van. Del was a member of the VFW and the Legion, and attended Cornerstone Church. On October 5, 2007, he married Shirley Erickson. Del enjoyed crossword puzzles, fishing, gardening, being a boxing coach and the company of his pets.
He is survived by his wife Shirley of Litchfield; children Michael (Lori) Rick of Portland, Oregon, Gayle Tuohy of Minneapolis; step-children Roxanne (Les) Gruwell of Litchfield, Paul (Feddie) Erickson of Oak Harbor; grandchild Chaz Tuohy; step-grandchildren Bryce and Heidi Carlson, great-grandchildren Izabella and Logan Tuohy and sister Vivian Liedman of Paynesville. He was preceded in death by parents Charles and Elsie Rick; wife Donna; brothers Wilfred Rick, Bill Steinberg, Leslie Rick, Raymond ""Buddy"" Rick, Richard ""Dick"" Rick; and sisters Violet Theis, Alma Hillman, and ""Sis"" Curtis. In lieu of flowers memorials to the Shriner's Children Hospital are preferred.Previous Events
