Delores M. Walls, age 80, of Litchfield, died on Thursday, August 28, 2008 surrounded by her family at Meeker Memorial Hospital. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 31, 2008 at 2:00 PM at the United Methodist Church in Litchfield with Pastor Bill Kerr officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior the service at the church. Interment will be in Lake Ripley Cemetery. Delores Marie Walls was born on March 8, 1928, the daughter of Palmer and Mabel (Powell) Johnson of Danielson Township. She was baptized and confirmed at Arndahl Lutheran Church near Rosendale. She grew up and received her education in Danielson Township. Delores graduated from Grove City High School in 1946. She was united in marriage to Donald Walls on March 6, 1948, at the United Methodist Church in Litchfield. After her marriage she became a member of the Litchfield United Methodist Church. Together they made their home and worked on their farm near Lake Stella for over fifty years. With her husband ill with Alzheimer’s’s and finding work too hard on the farm, they sold their farm and moved to a home in Litchfield on July 22, 2000. Besides being a home-maker Delores worked at Minnesota Mining in Hutchinson for over ten years. After one year of retirement she applied for and got a part-time job as assistant supper cook at the Emmanuel Nursing Home in Litchfield. She worked there for nearly eighteen years. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Her hobbies included making quilts and Afghans and writing poetry, having written many beautiful poems. Delores is survived by her three children: Judy Walls of Litchfield, Larry Walls of Soldotna, Alaska and Cindy Johanneck of Litchfield, two granddaughters, Kelly (Brooks) Rosenow of Shakopee and Tammy (Sam) Wood of Atwater, five great grandchildren, Trevor, Emma, Riley, Ella and Kaylee, and a former son-in-law Steve Johanneck. Also surviving is her brother, Bill (Jackie) Johnson of North Branch, three sisters-in-law, Ruth Johnson of Grove City, Elsie Johnson of Ramsey and Joyce Gister of Glencoe. Delores was preceded in death by her husband Donald, a son Steven, two brothers Harlan and Donald and her parents.
