Dawn M Albakri

Dawn M. Albakri, (nee Allen), age 57, of High Point, North Carolina, formerly of Litchfield, MN, died on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at the High Point Regional Medical Center in High Point, NC. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at the Litchfield Church of God with Pastor Dale Swartz officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 8:00 PM on Friday at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home, Litchfield, MN. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Saturday. Interment will be held in Lake Ripley Cemetery, Litchfield, MN. Dawn Marleen Albakri, was born on January 4, 1954, in Litchfield, MN to Andy and Lois (Ruhn) Allen. She grew up in Litchfield, MN, graduating from Litchfield High School in 1972. She continued her education at the Oregon Bible College in Oregon, Ill. Dawn returned to Litchfield before moving to Minneapolis, MN where she met Mokhtar. Dawn and Mokhtar were united in marriage on July 22, 1989 in Minneapolis, MN. Together they moved to North Carolina, where they have lived for 10 years. Throughout her life Dawn has been a taxi driver, owned and operated a video store, worked at nursing homes and for United Health Care Insurance. She was a member of the Lenoir Church of God in North Carolina. She enjoyed scrapbooking, watching movies, learning about history and being involved in Relay For Life. Dawn is survived by her husband, Mokhtar Albakri of High Point, North Carolina; father, Andy Allen and step-mother, Ruth Allen of Grove City, MN; sister, Dana (and Doug) Varner of Greenfield, MN; nieces and nephews, Alex Varner, Matthew Varner, Benjamin Varner and Mallory (and Mike) Salonek; great nephews, Tyler and Caleb; and many relatives and friends.
