David Wilmer Nething

David W. Nething, age 84, of Litchfield, MN, died on Sunday, December 2, 2012, at his home North of Darwin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Johns Catholic Church in Darwin at 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 6, 2012. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2012, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a parish prayer service at 4:00 PM at the St. Johns Catholic Church and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the St. Anne's Cemetery in Kimball. David Wilmer Nething, the son of Lilliard and Hulda (Baumgaard) Nething was born on March 9, 1928, in Milltown, Wisconsin. He was in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Following his military service he returned to help on the family farm. He also did custom farm work and drove semi truck with his brother Herb. He married Mary Ann Donnay on July 29, 1954, in Watkins. They were blessed with 10 amazing children. David was a member of the American Legion, Darwin Drifters and Darwin Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed the outdoors through hunting, fishing, and farming. He also enjoyed attending auctions, dancing, playing pool, and cards. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. David was full of understanding and will also be remembered for his big heart and contagious smile. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Nething of Litchfield, children, Joanne (and Gordy) Dalbol of Wyoming, MN, Lois Nething of Litchfield, Sue (and Steve) Snelling of Inver Grove Heights, John (and Rita) Nething of Belgrade, Henry Nething of Kingston, Mary Jean Anderson of Litchfield, Karen (and Tom) Dye of White Bear Lake, Charles (and Mary) Nething of Litchfield, and Rita (and Mathew) Guritz of Darien, IL. He is also survived by 28 grandchildren, Lauren Johnson, Kristine Kaufman, Kimberly Johnson, Tyler Jacobsen, Chris Jacobsen, Jordan Snelling, Malinda Nething, John Nething II, David Nething, Jonathon Schaeffer, Jesse Schaeffer, Jenna Schaeffer, Joshua Schaeffer, Abraham Nething, Benjamin Nething, Dean Nething, Mandy Kerkhoff, Henry Nething Jr., Brittany Anderson, Tiffany Anderson, Hillary Anderson, Michael Nething, Michelle Bengtson, William Nething, Michael Guritz, Zachary Guritz, Jacob Dye and Chris Dye; 14 great grandchildren; siblings, Beverly Nething of Thief River Falls, Janice Grimsgard of Litchfield, Gloria Nething of Litchfield, Dean Nething of Minneapolis, Judy Hedrick of Hinkley, Sophi (and Steve) Miller of Orlando, Fl, and brother Edward (and Tracy) Nething of Darwin; step-mother Celia Defries of Litchfield; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
